JOURNAL #4: IMAGIPHOR (SPRING BREAK EDITION)

Updated: May 2, 2019

Use images from your spring break as visual metaphors!

JOURNAL ENTRY 4/3/19:

1. Find an image that is iconic of your spring break

This image is iconic of my spring break because I had fun hanging out with my friends almost every day. The picture my friends and I took at a sweet 16 birthday celebration. Over spring break, I was fortunate enough to be invited to help celebrate my friends' momentous occasion. I mostly hung out with the people who appear in the image above, from left to right: Bailey, Baylie, Kaci, and Eryn. We would go to the mall or the beach, and eat food together. This picture capture my feelings during spring break because I was always happy. On the day I did not hang out with these friends, I did different team bonding activities with my soccer team because they were all on spring break the same time as me. Overall, it was really fun and relaxing to be able to spend time with all of my friends outside of school and not have to worry about homework or grades.

2. Find an image that is a visual metaphor of something

This image is a visual metaphor of appreciation and not taking people or things for granted. Over spring break, I was lucky enough for my sister to come home to visit. It is her first year in college and thus, away from home. Before my sister left, we used to fight a lot about things that have no importance (like who takes out the trash). After she left, I realized how much I love and miss her. She is a great role model for me and I always do whatever I can to make her proud. I wish that when my sister was still living in Hawaii, I appreciated her more and told her how much I care about her. Now, I only get to see her for short periods of time over the seasonal breaks. If I did not take her presence for granted, I feel like my sister and I could have been much closer and I would be more appreciative that I have her in my life.

3. Find an image that is a visual metaphor related to Macbeth

This image is a visual representation of ambition and determination. Over spring break, my soccer teammates and I had team bonding activities. One of the activities was hiking pillbox in Kailua. The hike was sort of difficult in the beginning because the path was steep and slippery. My teammate took a picture of me trying to climb up this hill. This image represents ambition because ambition is the strong desire to do or achieve something. At this moment, I had a strong desire to make it to the top of the hill. Although it may have been difficult to climb, in the end, I was happy and proud of my achievement. Similar to Macbeth, he had an ambition to become King and tried his hardest to make that desire to come true. The "hill" he had to climb involved killing King Duncan and eliminating any other possible threats to his reign (Banquo). He had determination, just like me, to get to the top of the hill and conquer it. Achieving the goal you set your mind to feels amazing, even if in Macbeth's case, guilt comes with the achievement.
